Assistant Professor at Abdullah Gül University (AGU)
Researcher with an interest in non-formal education, creative drama, storytelling and gamification in education. She utilizes her organizational, cultural and research experience to promote cross-cultural awareness through education. Her recent work is on faculty development. She currently dwell into the world of youth work in European context.
Dr. Elif Bengu, Assistant Prof. in Educational Science and Coordinator of the Center for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching (CELT). Dr. Bengu will be the project coordinator. Dr. Bengu received her B.S in Measurement and Evaluation in Education from Hacettepe University. She earned her M.S. and Ed.D. from University of Cincinnati on the “Communicative Competence of International Teaching Assistants”. On her return to Turkey in 2013, she taught instructional design and technology courses for prospective teachers at Okan University in Istanbul. Dr. Bengu joined AGU in 2016 and was appointed as the Coordinator for the Center for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching. Since then she has worked to establish the center to provide support for faculty members who want to improve their teaching. As part of the Erasmus+ teaching exchange program Dr. Bengu taught various courses on faculty development, communicative competence and cross cultural communication at Technical University of Graz/Austria, UNC Aalborg/Denmark and Polytechnic Institute of Setubal/Portugal. Dr. Bengu is currently working on teacher relevance and self-efficacy in the classroom, rapport in the cross-cultural classroom setting and the use of maker-spaces as part of the mechanical engineering education which she received a research fund.
